The Problem – Time
Personal development isn’t just a phrase that Learning & Development/HR people say.
Today it’s too easy to put our learning to one side, whether we’re working at our careers or working on various personal things and people, there are so many calls on our time.
I’m too busy for training
How often have you said this or a version of it?
As an IT Trainer, I’ve heard it so many times!
However, if you think about yes, you can do you job but you actually only know one way/method for it – the way you’ve always done it.
That doesn’t mean that it’s the best way, or even the quickest way to do that job.
In all fairness it might be – but…
Are you sure?
Have you checked if there is a way to improve?
A Solution
All of us use computers in our roles – it’s now a fact of life, and even more so in our personal lives.

Do you know that most programs have around three ways to perform the same action?
- Buttons on the screen
- Right-click with the mouse
- Keyboard Shortcuts
Sometimes there are even more options!
‘Personal development’ doesn’t have to take days or hours.
Learning/Training can be as simple and fast as a quick tip, something that can make a big change to your working practices.
Google it, find a short video on YouTube, talk to colleagues or better yet talk to a trainer.
Your turn:
Plan some time in during your week for your personal development – learn something new or even a new method.
Are there tips that you can read? Any FAQs that could improve a process? What about a quick video on YouTube (like my channel https://www.youtube.com/@michellekaye)?
