Prove you know – Google Workspace

Prove you know Google Certficate

As you know from Certification – Introducing Your Options there are a few on the market – first up Google Certificate.

Google Certificate - Workspace

I recently looked into alternatives to the Microsoft Suite. And of course the first one that comes to mind is Google.

They’ve had G-Suite for a while now, and it recently had a name change to Google Workspace.

I like to be able to prove my skills. For not only my own knowledge, but also to answer questions from colleagues, from personal experience.

So I wondered if they have any certificates – I discovered that they might.

I found Google Cloud Certificates, and it showed a Workspace option – however the site (Google Cloud – Workspace) is now somewhat confusing. This page says that

“The Google Workspace exam was retired effective 1/1/2021. For more information, visit the Google Workspace Certification FAQs.”

Then you visit the Workspace Certification FAQs, it then goes on to explain that with the changes from G-Suite to Workspace, the original G-Suite certificate was retired, and

“We will be reimagining the certification in 2021 and will design and develop new training and assessment options that fit our audiences’ needs.”

So, the current answer is no, but I’m taking that as “watch this space”.

Google offers some certificates. Specifically in the marketing aspects of Google Cloud, both training and certifications that you can take.

Personal Experience – Google Certificate

As I ‘discovered it’ too late, I can’t try it out, so my personal experience is none.

I’ll check occasionally to see if it is ‘reimagined’.

In the future, I might ‘take the plunge’ and have a go at one of the other option shown above – but not right now.
