Word Processors – here is the What, Why, When and How, you need to know.
What?
A word processor (WP) is a device or computer program that provides for input, editing, formatting, and output of text, often with some additional features.
Wikipedia.org
In other words, it’s your go-to program when your main content type is text.
Why?
Word processors have been designed to give you the tools and features to make it easier to work with text.
They have become the standard application for all and any type of document, from memos to letters to long documents.
Key facilities include:
- Formatting
- Spell check
- A4 layout with automatic page breaks
When?
It may seem obvious, but you should be using a word processor when the majority of the content is going to be text based.
Word processors today are able to create more than a standard letter.
They can be used for things that require graphics and image heavy items e.g. newsletters and webpages.
How?
There are a number of word-processors on the market, at the moment the two favourites are:

Microsoft Word

Google Docs

Apple Pages
